横田吉昭・カートゥーンズ

　カートゥーンは「一コマ漫画」と呼ばれますが、日本で多く流通する長編漫画と異なり、風刺やユーモアをシンプルかつ効果的に伝える分野です。美術およびジャーナリズムと関わりながら長い歴史を持っています。現代の複雑化しグローバル化する多くの問題の中で、カートゥーンは独自の役割を果たせるものと思います。カートゥーンを描きながら、その歴史と表象文化的な意味を研究しています。折に触れ、自作と研究に関わる思いを伝えていきたいと思います。

　'Cartoon' is the unique media which can present satire and humor very clearly and visually. It has  long history concerning arts and journalism. The cartoons can play an interesting role in the many modern, complicated and  globalized problems. I'm a cartoonist and studying about cartoons from historical viewpoint and Studies of Culture and Representation. I'd like to present my cartoons and thought about my study.
